If you are new to the format, begin with reading because you can inspect the evidence at your own pace. If you already understand written French but struggle with real-time comprehension, begin with listening.

- Writing sample: real task interface and model responses without AI usage.
- Speaking sample: recording controls without AI usage.
Practise, review, then decide
Use practice mode on your first attempt. After each answer, study the clue and the distractor. Use exam mode only when you want to test timing and endurance. One carefully reviewed test is more valuable than several rushed attempts.
What to expect from a free TCF Canada practice test
A free TCF Canada practice test should let you evaluate both the activity and the correction method. Check whether questions become progressively harder, whether answer choices are plausible and whether the review identifies the exact evidence behind the answer. A score without a learning explanation has limited value early in preparation.
Maple Exam Lab offers public samples for TCF reading, listening, writing and speaking. The samples use independently written material and are designed to demonstrate the same interface as the member experience. Speaking and writing samples do not consume an AI evaluation allowance.
Turn one sample test into a study plan
After the sample, classify each difficulty as language, comprehension strategy, task completion or timing. Choose one repair goal and one related lesson. Then attempt a new activity several days later. This short cycle is a more reliable starting point than repeatedly taking online TCF mock tests without reviewing errors.
- Few errors but slow pace: practise timing after reviewing the method.
- Many vocabulary gaps: study words in sentences and synonym groups.
- Wrong answers despite understanding the text: inspect distractor patterns.
- Incomplete writing or speaking: practise converting prompts into obligations.
