Did your response complete the task?

A grammatically strong response can still miss the purpose. Use this local checklist before correcting individual sentences.

Check completion before grammar

Read your prompt and draft, then confirm each requirement honestly.

What task completion means in TCF writing

Task completion asks whether your response performs the requested communication. A prompt may require you to describe a situation, explain a problem and propose a solution to a particular reader. Missing one action can weaken the response even when the French is accurate.

Use the checklist before sentence-level correction. Confirm the audience, purpose, required information and register, then review paragraph organization, grammar and vocabulary.

Use the checklist with a writing practice task

Turn every instruction verb into a requirement and mark where that requirement appears in your response. If it is absent or only implied, add a clear sentence before polishing the language.

  • Reader: does the tone fit the relationship?
  • Purpose: is the reason for writing immediately clear?
  • Content: is every requested point developed?
  • Outcome: does the ending support what you want the reader to do?
